Examining the Relations between Emotions, Motivation, Classroom Engagement and Achievement in Mathematics

The purpose of this correlational research was to examine the relationship between achievement emotions, motivation, and classroom engagement in mathematics among Turkish middle school students, determine how these three variables predicted academic mathematics. 549 seventh grade students a province located south-west region Turkey participated study. Relations were examined by utilizing structural equation modeling. Results study provided evidence for theoretical model that explained relations motivation their contributions significant amount mathematic contexts. In addition, it found emotions depend on whether they activity- outcome-focused or deactivating activating emotions.
